NerdWallet reviews credit cards with an eye toward both the quantitative and qualitative features of a card. Qualitative factors are those that affect how easy or difficult it is for a typical cardholder to get good value from the card. Our star ratings serve as a general gauge of how each card compares with others in its class, but star ratings are intended to be just one consideration when a consumer is choosing a credit card.

With the plethora of back designs clogging up the pages of eBay it seems redundant to illustrate many more, so here is one final sheet of 20th century offerings. They are of quite a different style from those of De La Rue and Goodall, though the strawberry plant on the bottom row, which is quite a late design, is modelled on those of De La Rue. That some back designs are quite spectacular cannot be denied, and yet others have a more mundane, but equally interesting significance, advertising a product or celebrating an event.

What makes an effective business card?

The paper is made from recycled materials that decompose quickly into compost so seeds embedded within the paper can grow. Planting the business card with soil below and watering the paper till it’s moist will allow the seeds to sprout and grow roots into the soil. While this business card is not exactly designed to last—at least not in its original form—customers are guaranteed to remember where their plant came from. Hopefully, they write down your contact info before it grows away.

Winstanley Geographical cards

At first glance, the face of these Atelier Irradié business cards look like otherworldly color swatches. In stark contrast to the metallic, jewel-toned gradient on the front, the back of these cards don't even use ink -- just simple, imprinted text displaying their contact information. These gold-foiled business cards designed for a professional photographer serve as a great example of how to effectively marry pattern, texture, and simplicity. We especially love how they cut the pattern in the middle to create a clean canvas for the contact information. Remember, the information you put on the back of your handmade or homemade cards can vary depending on your preferences and the purpose of the card. Feel free to get creative and add personal touches that reflect your style and brand.

Other cards earn more

Make sure not to use garish colors or use difficult-to-read text and hard-to-look-at designs. To make your card stand out and remain legible, print the main text in either black, dark blue or gray if it is on a white or light background and in white if it is on a black or dark background. If our favorite ten business cards of 2024 still leave you wanting more, here are a few more ideas to help with the inspiration you seek. If you intend to order over 1000 decks (maybe you’re running a Kickstarter or stocking inventory), the extra sexy premium linen air and lightweight stocks are a worthwhile upgrade.

Plus, there's no cap on spending or rewards, meaning that no matter how much you spend on the card, you'll earn the same rate on all purchases. And because you’ll earn cash back no matter what you use the card for, you won't have to keep track of multiple or rotating bonus categories, like more complex cash back cards might require. But because of TD Bank’s relatively small footprint, you're eligible to open an account only if you live in one of a handful of states. It's possible to find similar cards with lucrative rewards and features, without geographic restrictions.

This most recent version highlights everything from electric pinks to vibrant greens. In a nod to their native L.A., Omelet created business cards centered around sleek city imagery. This minimalist, modern business card stands out (literally) among competition using embossing and raised patterns to create wave-like oscillations. Designed to look like a topographic map for showing elevation changes, the raised pattern catches the eye and balances the large amount of negative space on the card. Raised patterns are especially good for designers, architects, artists and, of course, cartographers.

Ensure your business cards are flawless by double-, triple- and quadruple-checking before sending to print. The chances are you will want or need to order 100 to 200 cards (if not many more) and any error means you’ll have to start over. In a digital world of websites, email and contact apps, paper business cards can seem outdated. You can, however, use the paper to take your prospective customers right to your online platform. Thanks to the pandemic, QR codes have become ubiquitous; a barcode any smartphone can scan will take clients right to your website. Hopes to receive her first kiss at her 13th birthday party. Michelle is involved in an unfortunate incident with the class bird. The girls fall in love with a stray dog, unaware that the pup is pregnant. Jesse and Joey want Stephanie to apologize to a boy (Whitby Hertford) she has been teasing. Danny surprises the family and his co-host with a special trip to Hawaii.

Cast & Crew

While Jesse and Joey are out of town, Danny tries to become "Superdad" and spend time with his daughters "all by himself", but problems ensue when he finds that he has two events at the same time. Stephanie wants him to come to her science fair and DJ wants him to come to her drama festival. Meanwhile Jesse and Joey attempt to film a fox in the wilderness for an advertisement. Michelle turns four in the beginning of the episode, finishing her birthday cake in bed after the guys tuck her in.

Book 29

In the season three episode "Bye, Bye Birdie", on Michelle's first day of preschool, she meets a boy named Aaron Bailey, who, that day, is able to wear the sharing crown because he brought his toys in. That day, the teacher calls the kids to the reading carpet for story time and Michelle tells the class bird to come to participate, opening the cage and consequently resulting in the bird flying out the open window. A saddened Michelle desperately attempts to get the bird back but at the end of the episode, Danny gets her a new bird for her class. When she brings it in, all the kids love it and Aaron lets Michelle wear the sharing crown for bringing the bird to be the class pet; the two eventually become friends and stay friends throughout the series.

The Real Reason Why Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Aren't on 'Fuller House' as Michelle Tanner

Taking his advice, she borrows all of Joey's funny glasses, but the teacher confiscates them. Meanwhile, Michelle learns how to use a piggy bank. Jesse is confused about whom to pick for his best man – Joey or Danny. The revival brought back D.J., Stephanie, and Kimmy as the central characters, with the latter two helping out the former as she raises her three boys following the death of her husband. The Netflix original series debuted in February 2016 and will come to an end on June 2, 2020.

In one season, the family built Joey a bedroom in the basement, one reason being that D.J. Felt sorry for him because he had to sleep in the cold and he didn't have a bed or closet to keep his clothes in. Apparently, Danny taught Michelle to be a neat freak but regretted it when the rest of the family had a meeting. Michelle had two nicknames throughout the shows run.

In seasons five and six, she is friends with a boy named Teddy, whom she meets on her first day of kindergarten in the season five premiere "Double Trouble". The two enjoy doing many things together; it is revealed in "The Long Goodbye" that they enjoy dotting each other's "I"'s on their papers. When the two are in first grade, Teddy reveals his father got a new job and thus he and his family have to move to Amarillo, Texas. Michelle, saddened by the news, ties him up in her room tricking him into thinking she was teaching him how to jump rope. He is eventually untied by Joey and he gives her his special toy, "Furry Murray" and she gives him her special stuffed pig, "Pinky." Later, the two decide to write to one another. At the end of that same episode, Michelle makes a new friend named Denise Frazier, who then sits in Teddy's old seat and learns how to cross "T"'s.

Character

As toddlers, she and Howie are enamored with each other. Later on, when they are at Becky and Jesse's wedding, they dislike each other because of her being a girl and him being a boy. However, they come to an agreement to get "married" because they both want to be served cake.

Best-Loved Family Dogs on TV

During the run of the series, the character of Michelle uses many catch phrases (more than any other character). These two go way back -- Barack has roots in Chicago, as does Kanye -- but they've become less friendly over the years ... Especially after BO infamously called Ye a "jackass." All in good time, she said, insisting she felt moved to let her colleagues first “go home and hear from their constituents” over this week’s House recess.

Michelle appears in every episode of every season. As she gets older, she has a wild streak and is a smart aleck. She is shown having many friends and spending much time with them. Michelle is the character with the most catch phrases. She mentions that her favorite color is green in "Tough Love" (7.4). Michelle Tanner was born on November 12, 1986 to Pam and Danny Tanner.

When she was younger, Michelle had a mischievous personality; she once stole Stephanie's favorite stuffed bear and led her sister to believe it had simply been lost. After the death of his wife Pam, Danny Tanner invites his brother-in-law Jesse and his best friend Joey to help him raise his three daughters, D.J., Stephanie, and Michelle. When her mom died, Danny had his ex-girlfriend Allison May breastfeed Michelle. The show follows the everyday lives of the Tanners and the comedy that often comes out of their struggles. As the baby of the family, Michelle often receives extra attention, leading Michelle's two older siblings, D.J and Stephanie, to be jealous of her. Michelle shares a special bond with her Uncle Jesse; they are "best pals".

Family members try to talk Jesse and Rebecca (Lori Loughlin) out of a hasty Lake Tahoe wedding. Jesse and Joey want to spend more time at home with the girls. After the events of Full House, Michelle became a fashion designer (the same as Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen) and began "running a fashion empire".

He adds that he really didn't want to get her in trouble, but, as a surrogate dad, he has to make sure she follows the rules of the house even if he is her uncle. He decides to let her be her "little Munchkin" again if she stops calling him "Uncle Tattletale", and both make good on their deal. He then shows that he really wasn't going to leave her anything in the big suitcase he brought over despite saying it had all her essentials. Michelle grows a strong bond with Comet over the course of the series. In the season four episode "One Last Kiss," Michelle wanted another dog that was her size because Comet got bigger.

‘A Very Merry MeTV’ Celebration Schedule: Thanksgiving & Holiday Episodes, Specials & More

Starting in season four, Danny realizes that he must start disciplining Michelle. Jesse proposes to Becky and they soon become married. Joey's career takes a turn for the better when he is offered a job in Las Vegas to open for Wayne Newton. In the season finale, Becky finds out that she is pregnant as Jesse tells her, he wants to go on tour with his band.

Book 14

Stephanie has to get a pair of eyeglasses, which makes her feel "like a geek". When Julie's (D.J.'s friend) cousin, Steve Urkel is in San Francisco for the big science fair, Julie and D.J. Get irritated with him, and he meets Danny and Jesse who are also irritated by him; later, he meets Michelle, who he finds has a lot in common with him about money. When Stephanie meets Steve, he helps her out with her glasses dilemma.

Jesse takes drastic measures when he feels too dumb to attend a cultural arts party with Rebecca. The entire family pitches in when Jesse accidentally double-books the band. The loss of a beloved teddy bear prompts fond recollections of the girls' mother. We knew that Derek — played by actor Blake McIver Ewing — had the moves back in the day. And, thankfully, it seems that he's still got the moves to this very day.

Shelve My Life is a Three-Ring Circus

The following year, on Michelle's fifth birthday, when the family looked over Michelle's baby book, they decided to take a photo of her to put into it. When they decided to put it on the last page and end the book Jesse stated when the twins were born they would make a book for them. Michelle got angry and stormed off because she thought she was not Danny's little princess anymore then Danny said to her that no matter how old she got she would always be his little princess.

The three then have trouble deciding whom to trace, allowing Michelle to take advantage of the situation. The three eventually make up in the end after Michelle picks Comet the dog as her best friend and traces him and Danny helps them to understand that they could all be best friends. She is depicted as being slightly mischievous, though her status as the youngest daughter of the family leaves many of her misdeeds undisciplined and spares her from punishment – much to the chagrin of her older sisters. Michelle is quite playful, being a young child; however many episodes end with her realization of a vital moral. Having never interacted with her deceased mother, Michelle occasionally yearns for a mother of her own and episode plots have surrounded her desire for a mother and her plans to attempt to gain one through her father Danny remarrying. She forms a very strong familial bond with Jesse (her uncle) and enjoys his company and playful teasing.

Book 32

And before his continuation of the flashy dance days? Well, cute little Derek was actually the voice of Eugene in Hey Arnold! From 1987 to 1995, twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen played the youngest Tanner sibling, who always made everyone laugh by rattling off catchphrases like "you got it, dude" and "you're in big trouble, mister." In 1992, she is featured in episode two of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, titled "Hangin' with Michelle".

Netflix Boss on ‘Fuller House’, ‘Arrested Development’, Marvel and How to Save Your Favorite Show

Meanwhile, Michelle hides Jesse's ring when no one else wants to play "hot and cold" with her, and her game with Joey goes awry when the ring is gone. The fourth season of the family sitcom Full House originally aired on ABC from September 21, 1990 to May 3, 1991. Joey and Stephanie go to a mother/daughter slumber party when Becky can't make it.

At the beginning of the series, Michelle is just a baby. Like many very young children, she was portrayed by twins. However, actors Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were 8 years old by the time the series ended, so the writers came up with creative ways to put both on screen. Full House follows a not-quite-nuclear family, made up of father Danny Tanner (Bob Saget); his daughters D.J. (Candace Cameron), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen); his brother-in-law, Jesse (John Stamos); and his best friend, Joey (Dave Coulier). The latter two come to live with him after the death of his wife, Pamela, to help him raise his children.

Michelle's hobbies include Honey Bees, ballet, soccer, and horseback riding. She is very close to Jesse, who nicknamed her munchkin. Now that part one of the final season of Fuller House has officially been released on Netflix, fans of the original sitcom can’t help but wonder if Michelle will make a surprise appearance before the series ends. But based on what Mary-Kate and Ashley's co-stars have said about the possibility of a cameo, it seems the youngest Tanner won't be popping up anytime soon. Since premiering three years ago, the Netflix series Fuller House has brought much of the original cast of the hit '90s showFull House back together. While it's been fun watching the new adventures of the Tanner family over the course of the reboot's five seasons, one of Full House's most memorable characters, Michelle Tanner, has been noticeably absent.

On May 23, 1995, the popular ’80s and ’90s sitcom Full House came to an end. And for one character, that finale was a traumatic experience. Since Michelle Tanner didn’t continue her arc on Fuller House like the rest of her family, here’s a theory as to why that appearance exactly 25 years ago was her last. Michelle is short, has dark blonde hair, green eyes and fair skin. In the earlier seasons of Full House (seasons 4-5) she would sometimes put her hair up in a bun. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen nearly left the show after the 1st season because their real-life mother was concerned about them missing out on having a "normal" childhood.

Carnival Horizon Wikipedia

As well, Horizon has the SkyRide — essentially a hanging bicycle that can take you around the ship on a track. While we wanted to try this ride, it was undergoing repairs during our cruise. Then Carnival has put the Family Harbor on the second deck of the Horizon with you in mind.

Of course, you also have the ocean, grand, junior and Cloud 9 spa suites, that are all similar to what you might find across the family of Carnival cruise ships. Tweens, which Carnival Horizon identifies as those ages 12 to 14, have their own hip space, called Circle C, located on Deck 6, midship. The bulk of the space is taken up by chairs and big plasma-screen TVs -- a video-gamers paradise. There's also a movie screening room, with plenty of casual seating. Carnival's partnership with Dr. Seuss adds something special to the ship, beyond simply the cool and colorful WaterWorks. Under the Seuss at Sea programming, there's also a fantastical Dr. Seuss Bookville onboard Carnival Horizon, located on Deck 11, midship.

Onboard Activities

Ocean Suites also include VIP check-in, walk-in closet and bathroom with whirlpool tub. These are split up across suites, ocean-view cabins with balconies, ocean-view cabins without balconies, and interior staterooms. Deck 5 also is home to the ship's library, which has a solid selection of books for reading while on your cruise. This space also is the ship's game room, where you'll find a variety of board games and cards along with plush chairs and sofas. Pixels Photo Gallery also is on Deck 5, and it's gone digital.

Family Harbor Cove Balcony

The ship's splashiest option is the SkyRide, essentially an open-air capsule you pedal around a suspension track on Deck 14\. The 800-foot course, which features inclines and declines, is best enjoyed while the ship is docked, as you get amazing views of the ports you visit. (That works out perfectly, as lines for the attraction grow long on sea days.) SkyRide features two tracks, so you can race your friends. During the day, the Limelight Lounge hosts talks and seminars. But things really get going at night, when it hosts comedians as part of the Punchliner Comedy Club.

Carnival Horizon's Thrill Theater takes passengers on quick virtual adventures, playing to all the senses using special effects and motion. Shows run the gamut, from family friendly to slightly scary to completely terrifying. Complete with two whirlpools and the main pool, it’s a cool spot that’s normally off-limits to anyone not staying in a Havana room (you have to have a wristband to enter). Most people don’t know this, so the area stays pretty empty most of the time. If you want a pool and hot tub practically to yourself, head to deck 5 and check it out in the evening. Haute cuisine meets atmosphere at Fahrenheit 555, a dining experience that stands toe-to-toe with some of the best steakhouses on land.

Cloud 9 Spa on Carnival Horizon

Treatments for couples include a massage duet, while men can get express shaves, deep cleansing grooming and guy-specific facials. Cloud 9 Spa also has a Z Spa menu for teens, which includes treatments like acne attack facials and invigorating body scrubs. Moms and daughters or fathers and sons also can enjoy massages together. Carnival Horizon also offers the fleet's only smart elevators. You pick what deck you're going to from outside the elevator, as opposed to inside.

Traveling With a Family? Check out Family Harbor

Havana cabin passengers must be at least 12, so the pool area also is more adult-oriented. In the evening, passengers can find live music virtually everywhere. This is also when you'll find things like karaoke and singles meet and greets going on. Carnival Horizon hosts themed deck parties, like an 80s glow party and a dress-in-white event. Guest entertainers might wander the ship, providing personalized fun. (We adored the close-up magician, who boggled our minds with his illusions.) The Liquid Lounge turns into a dance club some nights, complete with DJ.

Sails To

If you’ve already had your eye on some of Carnival’s newer ships, there are plenty of reasons to choose Carnival Horizon as your host. Horizon also features a SkyCourt, where passengers can play basketball, soccer or volleyball. When there isn't a Playlist Production, the Liquid Lounge also hosts guest entertainers, such as magicians and singers, along with shows like Hasbro, The Game Show and The Love and Marriage Show.

The Vista Class

horizon carnival cruise

On Carnival Horizon, Deluxe Ocean View staterooms are a great choice for families who want to let the sun shine in as they sail. Rooms of this type feature great views, a full bathroom - plus a separate washroom - and while stateroom configurations vary, certain Deluxe Ocean View rooms have space to sleep up to five cruisers. Carnival Horizon's Porthole staterooms give you the classic seafarer's view times two - a pair of round windows providing an affordable view of the ocean. If you tire of ocean-gazing, there's plenty more to do onboard, but 24-hour room service is one amenity you can enjoy as you continue to take in the view.

And with the SkyRide closed for repairs, that was one less thing to do onboard. First things first, you should know some of the basic details of the ship. As we said, it was launched in 2018, sailing from New York City before making her way to her homeport in Miami.

This includes passenger favorite, Cherry on Top, where you can buy bulk candy, including cute Carnival brand "whale tails." Each day, this outdoor area is closed off except to passengers staying in Havana cabins. True beer aficionados -- or those with a casual beer interest -- will adore the brewery tour, offered on sea days. For a modest fee, you'll learn about the onboard brewing process, sample the beers and come away with a souvenir beer glass and a certificate of completion. (Yay, you!) Sign up quickly, as space is limited to 16 and the tours tend to fill fast. While the staff will call down specific decks to get off the ship at specific times, we found that just about everyone tries to leave at once, no matter if it was supposed to be their turn or not.

(Passengers staying in the Family Harbor get one free Night Owls session.) Night Owls runs from 10 p.m. To 1 a.m., and costs $6.75 plus a 15 percent gratuity per hour, per child. Activities are included, as the atmosphere is more like a slumber party. Also on Deck 12, adjacent to the SkyCourt, is an outdoor fitness area, called SkyFitness, where you'll find all-weather equipment such as elliptical trainers and bodyweight machines. We saw a few people incorporating them into their walking/running routines; others were just playing around. The fitness center carries a range of cardiovascular equipment, such as treadmills, ellipticals, rowing machines and stationary bikes.

We designed Carnival Horizon balcony staterooms for maximum sea breeze and the most stunning views, and this stateroom features a balcony that's even wider than our standard balcony. Enjoy the extra outdoor space, along with all the standard Carnival stateroom amenities. The spa also features a good-sized Thermal Suite, featuring steam rooms (including aroma and hammam), dry heat chambers, experience showers and a large whirlpool. The only thing that's missing is a thalassotherapy pool, which would be a nice touch in the space.

Carnival Horizon actually features two movie theaters next door to one another, and we call the whole great big thing Carnival Multiplex. Behind door number one is an actual IMAX Theatre in all its huge-screen, huge-fun glory. Thrill Theater lives there, and you’re invited to the 3D experience where jump-off-the-screen visuals are only the beginning of a, shall we say, truly moving experience. We call Carnival Horizon’s onboard burger spot Guy’s Burger Joint… and that’s “Guy” as in Guy Fieri. We teamed up with him to design not just the burgers and fries, but to help bring in the kind of rustic atmosphere you’d find at a roadside burger shack somewhere off a coastal highway.

And let’s not forget the thrilling entertainment, like the go-kart track and virtual reality laser tag. Trust me, the Norwegian Encore is setting a whole new standard for cruise ships. Stability refers to a ship’s ability to remain upright and steady while floating on water. Cruise ships are built with a low center of gravity, which helps them resist the forces of waves, wind, and other external factors that can cause the ship to roll, pitch, or yaw. Historically, rogue waves were considered mythical by sailors and largely unrecognized by scientists until they were conclusively detected by modern instruments.

Mariner of the Seas, a Voyager-class vessel, offers unforgettable getaways with its redesigned features including entertainment venues, activities, and dining options. This hidden gem offers a range of exotic cocktails, but one that truly transports you to the Polynesian islands is The Royal Zombie. Made with a blend of flavors like lime juice, passion fruit, and rum, this tall tiki cocktail is a vacation for your taste buds.

Two more of the ships -- Norwegian Encore and Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas -- could be back in operation as early as November. The history of the Royal Zombie cocktail can be traced back to its origins and cultural significance. It’s fascinating to learn about the roots of this iconic drink and how it has evolved over time. Don’t miss out on sipping the Royal Zombie and being transported to a tropical paradise. The treatments utilize grape-based products, such as masks, scrubs, and oils, to nourish and revitalize the skin. Grape seeds and skins are rich in antioxidants, which help to combat aging and promote a healthy complexion.

As a Haven suite guest, I feel privileged to have access to this exclusive bar, where every drink is a work of art. And let’s not forget about the exclusive amenities, such as a private sundeck and access to secluded areas of the ship. The Haven experience truly surpasses all expectations, making it a truly extraordinary journey. And when it comes to dining, Norwegian Encore offers a fine dining experience that is unparalleled. From the elegant Onda by Scarpetta, serving up delicious Italian fare, to the mouthwatering steaks at Cagneys, there’s something to satisfy every palate.

It’s a welcome and fitting addition to the dragon and prayer wheel sculptures on its two sister ships. The ship’s interior spaces are crafted by Miami-based Studio DADO, which has put its mark on sister lines Oceania Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line. All three ships in the Explorer class are about 55,500 gross tons, with Grandeur sporting a 744-guest capacity among its all-suite offerings.

This can be achieved through the use of specialized materials or by incorporating wave-dissipating structures. Lawrence, who had picked the cruise to see the Northern Lights, said the day started out with fairly big waves but that the captain had let passengers know to expect that. But as the day went on, the waves got bigger until they were large enough to spray her window on the sixth deck, she said. Several passengers, including Brenda Goodwin Sherbert, posted on social media about broken glass on the ship. Mavericks in Northern California is infamous for its cold, shark-infested waters and massive waves that crash onto a shallow reef. This spot has become a storied venue in big wave surfing lore, hosting prestigious competitions that test the limits of even the most seasoned surfers.

The town prides itself on its impressive collection of historic structures, with 12 listings in the National Register of Historic Places, and is a magnet for artists and craftspeople. You could also hop in a taxi or Uber and have it drop you off at the trailhead (just ask them to drop you at the Frog Pond Trailhead at the end of Ward Lake Rd. Listen for their loud screeches (you’ll often hear eagles before you see them) and look for white heads near the top of trees (you’ll likely see them flying around too). Hand to God, as I sit here writing, facing out at this exact spot, I just saw two fly by – an adult and a juvenile (juveniles don’t have white heads yet)!

Your captain will also try to find some dall porpoises for you to see as well. If you want to spend time on the water during your Alaskan adventure on a boat far smaller than your cruise ship, this might be a great excursion for you. The Deer Mountain Trail is only about a mile from the cruise ship docks but you might want to take a cab to the trailhead. The Tongass National Forest offers so many opportunities for hiking and walking and there are several trails that are especially popular with cruise travelers.

For thrill-seekers, this must-do tour has you zipping through the lush rainforest, with multiple stops to enjoy the scenic lookouts. The Caribbean isn’t the only place that offers snorkeling; Ketchikan, Alaska, does too! While the idea of swimming in Alaska’s frigid waters might sound crazy, Snorkel Alaska provides 7mm neoprene wetsuits to keep you warm. When the salmon are running, the river provides a feast for bears who prefer the food to come to them. After their fill, the bald eagles join the buffet to clean up the leftovers.

What Cruise Passengers Need to Know About Ketchikan Cruise Port

At the visitors centre you can get all kind of information like walking maps, bus schedules, hiking information, but you can also book tours and excursions. Both new berths can handle Post-Panamax vessels (including the world's largest passenger ships). Shuttle bus service for cruise tourists from the new terminal to downtown is provided complimentary. Today, the city still showcases Native culture with attractions such as Chief Johnson’s Totem Pole, which can be found in the heart of town. Ketchikan actually has one of the largest collections of totem poles to be found in Alaska, some of which date back more than a century. Stop by to learn more about Tlingit symbols, totem poles and their stories, and unique crafts that make the native population of Ketchikan unique.

Once you arrive, a guide will lead you on a short hike through dense rainforest where you may encounter bald eagles and black bears (from a safe distance of course!). If you enjoy fishing, there’s few places in the world that are more exciting for sport fishing than Alaska. There are a vast number of outfitters in town that offer charters, equipment and general guidance to anyone who would like to experience this sport in our northernmost state. The shortened cruise ship season likely means those passenger numbers will look different for now. But beyond the passengers on top of the boats, there’s also a story below the ships. Developers didn’t know if it would be allowed to accept passengers until late May of this year, he said.

Many peoples’ minds immediately think of totem poles when thinking of Alaska. If these beautiful works of art interest you, there are number of places that you can view them in Ketchikan. As the first megaships begin to dock at Ward Cove, ongoing environmental concerns have been renewed. The pulp mill had discharged pollutants into the cove, and the dock now rests on a “Superfund” site.

While you’re enjoying your sea-to-table meal, enjoy a lovely view of the coastline to unwind and fill up before hopping back on your ship. If you’re up for a bit more active adventure in Ketchikan, the Eagle island Sea Kayak Tour will help you to lose some of those added cruise food pounds. With a morning departure, this three-hour tour has you paddling across the inlet to Eagle Island and another nearby island for a beach walk.

This historic boardwalk, situated above Ketchikan Creek, offers a glimpse into the city’s colorful past as a bustling red-light district. Today, it is lined with quaint shops, restaurants, and galleries, providing a unique shopping and dining experience in a charming waterfront setting. Because the cruise terminal is located so far from downtown Ketchikan (where most independent tours meet), many will be nervous about booking independent tours or venturing out on their own. Ketchikan is so easy to navigate and tour operators are now used to dealing with guests coming from Ward Cove. However, you’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to get to and from Ward Cove/downtown Ketchikan. Prepare to be enchanted by Ketchikan, a quaint Alaskan town nestled amidst lush forests and cascading waterfalls.

Post navigation

If the salmon are running in the Ketchikan Creek below, it’s a great place to spot otters and harbor seals enjoying an easy meal. Further up the river, you can watch the salmon jumping up the fish ladder. Further down the street, the Chief Johnson Totem Pole has become one of the most photographed totem poles in the city, maybe even the world.

Travel further out to Guard Island Lighthouse, built in 1904 and still working today, which offers panoramic views of the mountainous seascape surrounding you. You’ll cruise past Totem Bight State Park, where you can admire the totem poles hand-carved by members of the Alaskan Native clan. The Alaska Raptor Center, located just 10 miles from town, is an excellent destination for families looking to learn more about raptors like bald eagles, owls, falcons, and hawks.

Take in the beauty of Alaska’s untouched wilderness and wildlife by embarking on a whale and wildlife-viewing boat trip. Plus, the lush mountaintops covered with ancient green trees clinging to the steep slopes are a beautiful sight that will stay with you for a long time. The snow-covered peaks lift barren mountain slopes and blooming meadows above the tree line. Waterfalls plume from fissures in the rock and vanish into the forested hillsides. The 3000-foot granite walls were created by time and glaciers thousands of years ago.

Docked next to cruise ship berths, the Aleutian Ballad is best known for its episodes on the TV show, The Deadliest Catch. The crab fishing boat had been retrofitted into a state-of-the-art tour boat, offering the best tour in Ketchikan. The 33-acre park has 14 totem poles spread around the grounds, which offer exceptional scenery.

Cessna 150 Model Guide and Specs : Is It Really Good?

cessna 150 cruise speed

The Cessna 150 is a two-seat tricycle gear general aviation airplane that was designed for flight training, touring and personal use.[2] In 1977, it was succeeded in production by the Cessna 152, a minor modification to the original design. The Cessna 150 is an all metal, two seat, high wing, single engine airplane equipped with tricycle landing gear, having a steerable nose wheel and two main wheels. Later, these configurations were joined by the top-end Commuter II and the aerobatic Aerobat models. Operators who wish to fly the Cessna 150 as a STOL plane has modified their landing gear arrangement to a taildragger configuration, incorporating reinforced main struts and larger low-pressure wheels that make it fit for bush flying.

Question: How much does a Cessna 150 cost today?

cessna 150 cruise speed

With a total of 33,000 units built, the 150 has remained a favorite among students, instructors, and joyriders, a testament to its timeless qualities. In 1976 the "M" gained a suite of electrical circuit breakers to replace the previous fuses used. It was also fitted with a fully articulated pilot seat as standard equipment (this seat had been optional on some earlier models). The 1973 "L" model brought in lower seats to provide more headroom for taller pilots.

Payload with full fuel

The Cessna 150’s original Vne (do not exceed speed) was 136 KCAS, which was improved to 141 KCAS on follow-up variants. Stall speeds are 48 knots clean and 42 knots in landing configuration, a stark difference from the Cessna 172 family, where it had significant changes over the years. All models from 1966 onwards have larger doors and increased baggage space. With the 1967 Model 150G, the doors were bowed outwards 1.5 inches (38 mm) on each side to provide more cabin elbow room.

Empty Weight

They had a gross weight of 1,500 lb (680 kg), and the flaps were actuated manually with a mechanically linked lever between the seats. Due to its longevity in service, the Cessna 150 family was the target of many supplemental type certificates (STC), modifications aimed at improving certain aspects of the aircraft either for flight safety, comfort, or specialist use. The most common found in aircraft available for sale concern improvements to the fuel management system, which in the original Cessna 150 was limited to an ON/OFF switch. While Cessna’s 172 families transitioned to Lycoming engines after its initial contract with Continental ran out, the 150 series were all equipped with Continental engines. Most models had the Continental O-200-A, a four-cylinder, air-cooled carbureted engine with 200 cubic inches of displacement capable of generating 100 horsepower. At the front of the aircraft is a 2-blade metal fixed-pitch propeller by McCauley.

New options were a map light under the control wheel and a ground power plug, and extra steps and handles were added to the floatplane version to make fueling easier.[23] 1714 "J" models were built,[1] plus 140 built by Reims as the F150J. In 1959, the ‘World’s Premier Trainer’ was introduced by Cessna as the Cessna 150. This small, but iconic, airplane has gone on to train over 250,0002 pilots- and counting. Its predecessor, the Cessna 140 tail-dragger, finished production in 1951, and Cessna went back to work designing an even better trainer and came up with the tricycle landing gear Cessna 150.

Wingspan

The 150D moved the heavy electrical battery from the previous rear location, behind the baggage compartment, to the front, just ahead of the engine firewall. It had a broader range for its center of gravity than earlier models, which allowed more flexibility in loading. The 150D also had more permissive airspeed limits for its never-exceed speed, its maneuvering speed, and particularly its maximum flaps-extended speed, which was raised from 85 mph (137 km/h; 74 kn) to 100 mph (161 km/h; 87 kn). Fuel is supplied to the engine from two 13-gallon tanks, one in each wing. From these tanks, fuel flows by gravity through a fuel shutoff valve and fuel strainer to the carburetor. Fuel capacity can be increased to 38 gallons total with the optional long-range system.

Over the years, the 150 experienced a number of modifications, some dramatic. In 1961, the main gear struts were moved aft two inches to improve tail-heavy tendencies on the ground, and tubular gear legs with a wider track were added in 1971. The baggage area was enlarged several times, and by the end of production, the 150 had more space than load capacity.

Popular Upgrades and Modifications for the Cessna 150

The Cessna 150 was the first flight experience for many pilots who learned to fly anytime after 1959. It’s an all-metal tricycle gear high wing airplane with two side-by-side seats. The Cessna 150 had limited visibility, because it didn’t have a rear window (in the original model), and high wing aircraft have essentially no upward visibility anyway due to the wing. However, it did have fairly large windows on each cabin door, and two smaller windows on the sides of the fuselage near the baggage compartment.

Cessna tried to replace the Cessna 150 with the 162, but it did not work out in the long run for reasons outside the scope of this entry. A similar high wing offering is the Symphony SA-160, which enjoyed a short production run from 2001 to 2006. No Cessna 150 variant managed to top the Cessna 150’s nominal service ceiling, set to 15,300 ft. The Cessna 150H had that drastically decreased to 12,650 ft, but the definitive Cessna 150M brought that back up to 14,000 ft, respectably close to the original numbers. The 150L had the longest production run of any 150 sub-model, being produced 1971–74. Cessna has historically used model years like the U.S. automobile industry, with new models typically being introduced a few months prior to the actual calendar year.

The 150 also featured larger, more powerful control surfaces, and a “more modern” squared-off profile3. The 150D model for 1964 brought the first major change to the 150's look—the introduction of a wraparound rear window under the marketing name Omni-Vision, following the pattern already set by other Cessna models. The gross weight of the aircraft was correspondingly increased to 1,600 lb (730 kg), where it would stay for all later 150 models. New in 1971 were tubular landing gear legs with a 16% greater width (6 feet 6 inches (1.98 m) to 7 feet 7 inches (2.31 m) for better ground handling. Also in 1971, the landing and taxi lights were moved from the wing leading edge to the nose bowl to better illuminate the ground. They were an improvement, but bulb life was reduced due to the heat and vibration of that location.

The O-200 is relatively cheap to overhaul, and parts are readily available for it. Early 150s, like their 172 and 182 relatives, had the straight tail and fastback upper fuselage design, which some people think looks cool. Later models were slicked out with the swept tail (necessary for the near-supersonic cruise speed of close to 100 mph) and rear window. Because they’re so plentiful and offer such modest capability, the 150 is a terrific value. The yearly insurance rate for a Cessna 150 is one of the lowest you can get if you’re not using it as a trainer.

Introduced in the late 1950s, the Cessna 150 was a revolutionary airplane at the time. A tricycle gear, side-by-side two-seater, the model gave instructors and students exactly what they were looking for, an easier-to-fly and -land trainer that held up to a seemingly endless succession of bad student landings. This works out to a useful load of 515, 620, and 489 lbs., respectively.

As I mentioned earlier, the Cessna 150 went through 12 unique variations, and each one brought about changes. The Cessna 150 is incredibly versatile- depending on the variant, you can upgrade it to a pretty good aerobatic trainer, a great backcountry plane, a light cross-country plane, or leave it as is as a standard trainer. For pilots who fly solo, there doesn’t seem to be many more plentiful, affordable options out there that can beat the Cessna 150. Like with all legacy models, there are plenty of little things to fix, but most of the used C150’s on the market have already been taken care of and well-loved as a family plane or commuter. The later versions that have a rear window are obviously a better option, but it’d be hard to be disappointed with a standard, trustworthy plane like the Cessna 150.
